What to Watch // NJMP 2026

Three Superbike races, multiple title battles and mixed weather set the stage for MotoAmerica’s 2026 finale at New Jersey Motorsports Park.
Superbike
Three races. Four mathematical title contenders. Mixed weather forecast. What more could you ask for as we roll into the final @MotoAmerica weekend of the season?
SDK in the lead and vying for his second MotoAmerica Championship - his first in Superbike. Bobby Fong sits second, 26 points back, eyeing redemption on last year’s points swing at the final round in Jersey. Mathew Scholtz is third - 46 adrift and JD Beach just another 3 points back from that.
While the latter two would need some wild circumstances, with 3 races in a weekend, as we’ve seen before, anything can happen.
In a rare moment of opinion on this platform - dare we say PJ Jacobsen could be the one to watch on home turf, going full send for a win before the bell rings on the season?
Supersport
With no title to play for, it should be a gloves off weekend for the Supersport class. Will Binder have ‘championship hangover’? Will Kayla Yaakov send it for a win? One thing we do know, Josh Hayes and Josh Herrin will be hanging it out to end the season on a high note - and if there’s mixed conditions or rain, our money is on the former.
Twins Cup
One of the more interesting classes to watch should be this one, all bets off for the young guns and if we know one thing, it’s that they’ll be going for it. Hank Vossberg will be eager to continue winning ways, Matthew Chapin will be just as eager to stamp the end of the season with a win or two, and guys like Isaac Woodworth who have knocked on the door of the front step a few times this season will be hungry to prove what they’ve got to offer as the off-season approaches.
Talent Cup
Nathan Gouker comes into the weekend with the points lead and Kensei Matsudiara just 18 points back with two races left. The question mark here is if we see Matsudiara on the bike at the final round, as it’s been rumored that he may opt to head to the next round of the FIM Moto4 Latin Cup series where he leads the points in their Road to MotoGP program. That’ll open it up for Sam Drane and Jake Paige to get their final shots at some race wins as this chapter of the Talent Cup class closes.
Baggers
Last but not least, all eyes on the battle for P2 in the championship between Troy Herfoss and Bradley Smith. “But it’s just P2” - yeah but it’s about Harley and Indian at this point, you think the Harley boys want to give an inch on track, let alone a 1-2 in the championship after the way the year started? Odds are, absolutely not. Smith’s found form, and while we don’t have any intel on contracts, we gotta wonder if there might be more on the line for both of these riders? Hayden Gillim, the newly crowned champion hasn’t stopped since he was crowned, fresh off of the Bol D’or 24 hour on a Stock 1000 effort. He’ll also pull double duty this weekend, will it matter? Chances are he’s still at the front and in the mix.
