World Moto Clash Officially Calls Off Mid-Ohio

World Moto Clash will not race at Mid-Ohio in September; CEO Stanford Crane cites an investor dispute and says the series will not announce its next event until 2027 funding is secured.

It’s official, World Moto Clash will not be racing at Mid-Ohio in September. Throughout the last few months there’s been much speculation around the event and if the 2.8 million dollar purse event would see the light of day, and as most of the industry suspected, it will not.

The CEO of the operation, Stanford Crane took to their website to address the issue with the following statement:

    "Here’s the inside story.

Our operations and media teams were ready to deliver something special. More than 160 riders had entered to compete for 48 places on the grid. The energy was electric. The opportunity was real. And it was about to happen.

    So what happened?

The investor we had been working with for months, based on clearly communicated terms, decided to take advantage of the circumstances and switched from being an investor to trying to take over the company on the cheap.

Not only was this unfair to our employee-shareholders, but it was a massive red-flag moment that told me, “These are not people we want to be in business with.” I’ve been down this road before in my career, and it never ends well.

    So, I said, “No!”

World Moto Clash was never created to put on one race. It was created to reimagine motorcycle road racing in the United States and to give riders, teams, sponsors, and fans the sport they deserve.

I want to personally thank John Ulrich of Team Hammer and Roadracing World for his counsel and steady guidance as we navigated difficult conversations along the way. His commitment to the long-term health of this sport is clear, and we are grateful for his support.

WMC will keep moving forward and continue building on the work that brought us to this moment. We will not announce our next event until we have secured the funding needed to support the 2027 season the right way.

When one door closes, others open up."

Will the upstart series see the light of day in 2027? Honestly for the health of the sport, we hope so — a race featuring $1,000,000 to win would be wildly entertaining.
